1) Human beings; they crawl when they're babies. They walk on two legs when they're adults and when they are old they walk with batons.

2) It is called the riddle of the sphinx. Hera sent the sphinx to Thebes who guarded the gates. She asks the riddle to the travellers who pass by, and whoever was unable to answer she strangle and devours them

3) The sphinx which was a half woman and half lion that guarded the gates of Thebes
